Fashion Industry in Barcelona

Fashion Industry in Barcelona:
Barcelona is a city of color and excitement.  From the Mediterranean Sea to the crowded Ramblas, Barcelona has a lot to offer.  The inspiring works of Gaudi allow designers to create masterpieces.  Barcelona has a contagious spirit that draws people to discover its greatness.

The food in Barcelona helps make it so great.   From paella to tapas these traditional meals come in all colors and sizes.  Paella is a wonderful dish featuring rice, vegetables, and either seafood or another type of meat.  This dish is spicy and very colorful!  If going out with a group of friends, tapas are a fun way to dine.  These mini meals are easy to share and enable people to try many different things.  Pair these Spanish meals with fruity sangria and you will have a real taste of Spanish cuisine.  The sangria itself is a masterpiece with its wine red color and pieces of colorful fruit floating at the top.

If cooking is something you enjoy doing, then you should head over to the BCN Kitchen and take a class on how to make tapas.  Here you will learn from a professional chef on how to cook traditional Spanish tapas and meals.  This hands on experience is fun and educational.  You even get to eat what you make! By learning how to cook the Spanish food one can take the culture back with them.

Barcelona is filled with many exciting museums.  The museum of textiles is filled with many wonderful pieces from all over time. This is exhibit breaks down how clothing is constructed to emphasize different parts of the body. Throughout history different parts of the baby were considered beautiful. In the textile museum one can see tools were used to create the styles throughout the decades.   Another exciting museum in Barcelona is the Museu de la xocolata.  This museum breaks down the process of importing the cocoa as well as how chocolate is made.  Throughout the museum there are many designs made with nothing but chocolate.  These designs are very intricate and display themes such as historical events, Disney movies, and sports.

The Picasso museum is very important to Barcelona.  Inside the museum one can see many of the wonderful drawings and designs from the great artist himself.  This museum is housed in what used to be palaces of the royals.  There are many works from all of his stages of his career, from the time he was a child to up until he died.  It is interesting to see how his styles changed throughout his life.  While in the museum you will also notice how the way he signed his name changed throughout the years.

If seeing bright colors and excitement is a must while visiting a city, one must go to the Ramblas.  This long street is filled with venders and artist.  People dressed in crazy costumes are all over the Ramblas.  While most people get ready for their day jobs these street characters paint their faces and put on crazy outfits to stand on a block and make money by people taking pictures with them.  There are many restaurants up and down the Ramblas for a quick bit to eat or a meal.  At the end of the Ramblas one can find the Mediterranean Sea.  This beautiful blue water holds many sail boats and cruise ships.  Walking up and down the boardwalk is a wonderful way to take in the atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

The Sagrada Famillia is a cathedral built by many different artists.  The main inspiration came from Gaudi, a very famous architect in Barcelona.  He is known for buildings made with smooth lines like the Sea.  He does not use sharp edges, giving his designs a very special look and appeal.  This church is spectacular and not complete.  Every single inch of the Sagrada Famillia tells a story of Jesus and Biblical history.  Not being inspired by seeing this masterpiece is almost as impossible as not loving the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
There are many retailing opportunities in Barcelona.  Just outside of the city is the home of Mango, a trendy women’s clothing line.  This brand is from Barcelona and can be found in almost every major city around the world.  They push quality rather than quantity, putting their brand image ahead of competitors like H&M and Zara.  Every aspect of Mango is completed within the main building in Barcelona.  They do however have factories in China that produce the clothing.  The environment within Mango is a wonderful place to work.  Everyone works as a team, even the CEO.  This show how important quality is to the owner because he is will to do anything to make sure things are perfect. If one finds themselves out near Mango, then they should venture out to the outlet mall.  This mall has great stores such as Burberry and Dolce and Gabbana.

Barcelona has a very well known department store El Corte Ingles.  This store is filled with wonderful brands and all types of merchandise.  There is designer clothing for all ages as well as a grocery store.  Everything is broken off into a “boutique” setting.  This allows the customer to have the same experience in a crowded department store that they would get in the designers boutiques.  There are many El Corte Ingles’ in Barcelona.  They are wonderful places to find ideas about trends because they offer almost everything possible.  There is even a wonderful gift shop offering souvenirs from Barcelona.

Barcelona is a wonderful city to find inspiration.  Whether looking at art by Gaudi or Picasso, or even just the art of graffiti found all over the city it is easy to see how passionate the Spanish about their art.
